The New Zealand basketball team have lost their first game of the 2014 world championship that was being held in Spain.

The Tall Blacks lost 76 - 73 to Turkey after leading by 10 points halfway through the final quarter.

Corey Webster led New Zealand with 22 points, while Rob Loe made a strong starting as centre, with 11 points including shooting three pointers.

Their next game is against the Santiago De Los Caballeros.
