Today at technicraft, we had to make a stand for our Quiz Game. First our teacher went to the other room and cut us a special type of wood. Then he mark 12 cm or more on the wood and he wrote our essential name down on the wood that is measure 12 cm. We need to wood so he mark our name down on two wood that is 12 cm and 24 cm.

Then we went back into our room and cut out the lines that our teacher had drawn. After cutting it, we had to get a sandpaper to make the sides and the top smooth.

Then we went and glued our wood down on the line we drew on the wood with a glue gun. After gluing the wood, we flip the Quiz game around and it looks like it is floating.

Why do we don’t play rugby on Saturdays?

WALHT: Use the correct structure of an explanation writing

Why do we don’t play rugby on Saturdays!
Have you ever wondered why there might not be rugby games on Saturday’s?

Not having Rugby on Saturday’s may mean that the field might be wet or too muddy to play because it could have been raining. Not playing may also be because teams sometimes has a bye game. This is when there may not be enough teams to play and so a team will have a rest. To play on Saturday, each team needs to have at least 15 players on the field.

Team players may have to travel far away for example, from the eastern suburbs to Papakura which is where all the rugby tournaments are held.Team players have to pay their fare to go to Waiheke Island to verse their opposing team. Transportation to games often is reliant on parents, but this can also be a problem because they may be working on Saturdays or they may not have a licence to drive.

Waking up late for rugby is also a problem. Traffic is another issue, that can make players late and could result in arriving late and worse case arriving to see gear being packed away and cars leaving the car park.

These are some of the many issues that can affect a rugby team’s ability to play on Saturdays.

Apple Crumble are delicious!

Today we had a delicious apple crumble which was made by Ingrid and Ella. We only had a little piece so that everyone can have a taste. They put in a plastic cup and spoon to eat it.  It was really yummy and could be better with something cold like ice cream. You can find the Recipe on Ingrid's blog.

Spider can be small, but you have to be cation!

Spiders has another name which is Araneae. They can’t be found in the polar regions or Antarctica. They are air breathers  and they eat insects, frogs, birds and woodlice. They are not insects but they are arachnids.

Scorpions, Mites, Ticks and Harvestmen are related to spiders. When there is a abandon spiderwebs, it's called Cobwebs. There are over 40,000 species of spiders around the world. They are the 7th world with the big populations.

A female spider can lay up to 3,000 eggs. Patu Digua are the smallest spider in the world which can only be found in Colombia. A Banana spider are the poisonous spider in the world which can be found in Brazil. Some spiders can harm people and some can’t.

Spiders blood is blue which humans have red blood. They can come in any size. So if you see a big spider, it could be poisonous and if you see a small one, it could be not harmful to human, but be cation.

Spider can look ugly, but they are very good on catching their own food.

Have you been to Botanic Gardens?

Plan:
Edible garden - Fruits - Vegetables -
Workshop - Planting - Making an organic spray - Friends and Foes -
Forest - Native trees -

Brainstorm:
Fruits
Vegetables
Worm farm

Writing
On Tuesday the 13th of May, we were provided with an opportunity to visit the Botanic Gardens in Auckland for the first time. Auckland’s weather was perfect for our adventure, which began with an opportunity to explore an area that had native trees, gardens and lakes.

At the Edible Garden, there were fruit and vegetables. Some of the fruit that was there were apples, guavas, bananas, strawberries and feijoas. Some of the vegetable included leeks, onions, beetroot, silverbeet and many more. These eatable fruits and vegetables made me think about 5 + a day.

There were also bees polluting flowers and ants were roaming on the ground and the caterpillars were munching their way on leaves in the Edible garden. At the back of the garden was a worm farm with a lot of worms and a lot of compost. There was about 10 or 20 worms visible in the worm farm.

Surprisingly there was something weird next to the fruit and vegetable plants. I was shocked to see flowers growing right along side next to the vegetables. This is known as companion planting. The flowers were there to help attract pollinators like wasps, butterflies, ladybugs and other insects. They help the plants because the Ladybug eats aphids and Wasps eats annoying Caterpillars that damage leaves of vegetables. Companion planting helps to reduce the amount of damage these pests can cause.

WALHT write an information writing about Botanic Gardens.

My holiday!

Planning:

Transport:               Where:                    Food:                 Games:                                 T.V.
Mums car                Aunties house         Noodles            BO2 ( Black Ops 2 )              Youtube
Drinks               GTA ( Grand Theft Auto )
                                                               Water
Writing:
In the holidays, I went to my aunties house because my mum and my nana wanted to take her Godmother to Sky Tower because she was going to Samoa soon. When we arrived to my aunties house, I say bye to my mum and my nana. When I got inside the house, I ask my cousin if we can play BO2 ( Black Ops 2 ). He said, “Yes!” We decided to play Zombies. It was me and Xavier that was playing because they had two controller. Then my cousin got a Ray gun and I got a sniper. After a while, we died on round 25. Later on, we played GTA ( Grand Theft Auto ). We played as Franklin because I wanted to do lots of cars up. When I did some cars up, I got bored so we change the game to Youtube.

When we change the game to Youtube, we watch Prestige Clips. He does wins and loses for GTA Online and epic moments for BO3 ( Black Ops 3 ). One of the GTA Online wins was that a Zentorno hit the pole and the car flips over the rockets because the rockets was chasing the Zentorno. Also one of the losses was that a fat person was riding a BMX. The epic BO3 montage was that they were using knifes and throwing them over buildings so they can kill the bad team.

Then we played outside and we played with a soccer ball and we kicked it around and then the ball got stuck on the tree.Next we played with the Nerf gun and we played like we were in a game. I had the Mega Nerf gun while Xavier had Elite Nerf gun. My gun had the biggest bullet than Xavier's one. I keep winning because I had a secret hiding spot. It was under the car. They don’t know where am I because I was hiding. Then we played frisbee and I threw the frisbee and it went over the hedge and got stuck.

Then my mum came and I had to go because my dad wanted me to come home because he hasn't seen me through out this how day. My favourite part was when I played games and played outside and I hope Xavier’s Uncle came because he was good and Black Ops 2 online.

I am learning to use the features of a recount and share my experiences.
