It was released on March 4th 2000 in Japan followed by North America and Europe later the same day. The sixth generation console competed with Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox and Nintendogamecube.

Playstation 2 went on to become the best selling video game console in history selling over 155 million units. More than 3,874 game titles have been released for the PS2 since their launch and some of the games were Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin for Japan, Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 for North America and Europe and FIFA 14 for Brazil.
Sony later manufactured several smaller models in 2006, they introduced Playstation 3. Even with the release of Playstation 3, Playstation 2 remained popular well into the seventh generation continued to be produced until January 4 in 2013. This is one of the longest runs for a video game console. Sony unveiled the Playstation 4 console the following month on February 20th of 2013.
PS2 is fun to play with in the holiday and it is popular with children. However it is not good to play game all everyday.
